I consider “American Psycho” by Bret Easton Ellis to be the greatest piece of fiction ever written, simply because it’s the finest combination of everything I love put together. Namely: culture, the 1980s, drugs, satire and fucked up situations.
Other than that I really really loved Bukowski’s “Women” and pretty much anything by Henry Miller. I also give high praise to “The Rules of Attraction” since that basically catalogued portions of my college life.
I haven’t read a good book in months though, which probably is why my writing has plummeted into the depths of something I consider poor at best.
